Panel: Film Portraits
This panel discussion will examine the growing interest in the role and format of biopics and filmic portraits and the expanded understanding of this genre in today’s filmmaking. The focus of the conversation will be the question of how these films look at particular histories, eras and epochs of the past through the lens of a specific individual biographical exploration. Panelists will include current and past NYJFF filmmakers including Neil Barsky, director of Koch (NYJFF 2013); Emmanuel Bourdieu, director of Louis-Ferdinand Céline (NYJFF 2017); and Marie Noëlle, director of Marie Curie: The Courage of Knowledge (NYJFF 2017), and will be moderated by Jens Hoffmann, Curator for Special Programs, NYJFF.
Free and open to the public.
